Pearl, NBC, FOX, ION, and Sinclair Team Up For 12 Week Cross-Promotional Campaign to Provide Live, Local TV to Users on the Go

New York, NY – October 28, 2013 – Dyle® mobile TV, operated by Mobile Content Venture (MCV), a joint-venture of 12 major broadcast groups, today announced the launch of a major marketing campaign to boost awareness of exciting new technology that expands opportunities for people to watch TV on the go. Through a number of on-air, digital and live interactive events, stations in 12 markets have committed to promoting the Audiovox mobiletv receiver, which allows consumers to turn their smartphones and tablets into portable televisions.

Beginning October 28, 2013 and running through January 19, 2014, MCV stations from Pearl, NBC, FOX, and ION, as well as stations from Sinclair, Univision, and CBS will actively cross-promote the emerging mobile TV technology along with the recently announced Audiovox device across key 12 markets. The marketing push will involve cross-promotional efforts throughout the following U.S. cities:

Atlanta, GA

Charlotte, NC

Cincinnati, OH

Dallas, TX

Detroit, MI

Houston, TX

Jacksonville, FL

Kansas City, MO

Miami, FL

Orlando, FL

Phoenix, AZ

West Palm Beach, FL

“NAB applauds the efforts of local TV stations who have embraced mobile TV and will be aggressively marketing the new Audiovox device,” said National Association of Broadcasters President and CEO Gordon Smith. “Broadcasters are committed to delivering live and local television to on-the-go viewers, and we look forward to the continued evolution of our programming to new receivers and multiple platforms.”

The news marks a pivotal point for Dyle, as it has been producing mobile TV-enabled products since August 2012. With Dyle® mobile TV, consumers can turn their smartphones and tablets into portable televisions with no impact to their data plan, and without the need for Internet or 3G/4G. The initiative has continued to gain traction, securing expansion into new markets, stations and OEM manufacturers.

The addition of the Audiovox mobiletv receiver marks a crucial expansion to physical retailers, giving consumers an additional way to purchase Dyle mobile TV, and displays that the broadcast industry is continuing to innovate. Audiovox mobiletv is available at select regional, national and online retailers including Radio Shack, BrandsMart U.S.A., ABC Warehouse and Amazon.com. MSRP on the device is $129.99.

“This initiative we are undertaking with our market partners demonstrates their commitment in helping to drive greater adoption of ways we can leverage live, local viewing of our favorite programming,” said Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-general managers, Mobile Content Venture. “We are still in the early phases of this movement and as we continue to deliver new innovations to market, we believe the foundations we have built will prove fruitful for the entire broadcasting industry.”

Mobile TV Growth Reveals Opportunity During Regular and Breaking News Cycles

PORTLAND, Ore., June 26, 2013 — Rentrak, the leader in multi-screen measurement serving the advertising, television and movie industries, today released its initial findings on mobile broadcast television usage. Early results from its new Mobile TV Essentials service shows news is the leading genre of content watched from Dyle mobile TV – a new service offering consumers an easy way to experience and enjoy live broadcast television on their mobile devices at home or on-the-go.

New Devices, Markets, and News Programming Drive Growth and Usage

Key initial findings include:

-The average Dyle mobile TV device tunes in for more than 20 minutes per usage day
Local and national network news represents more than half of the viewing time in some local markets

-Usage spikes during critical news cycles, such as during the manhunt for the Boston bombing suspects, in which total viewing minutes were 96 percent higher than the week prior

-Daytime viewership between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. is a larger share of mobile TV usage. Forty-five percent of Dyle mobile TV viewership occurs during these hours, compared with 36 percent of in-home TV viewership (according to Rentrak’s TV Essentials service)

“The results collected through the Dyle mobile TV service are very encouraging,” said Cathy Hetzel, corporate president of Rentrak. “With the rapid growth we are seeing in viewership, mobile television is proving to be a promising opportunity.”

“The work we’ve done over the past two and a half years to make live, local broadcast a reality is becoming more and more tangible based on the measurement and results derived from the Rentrak information,” said Salil Dalvi, co-general manager of Mobile Content Venture.

“The results clearly point out that broadcast TV is an important lifeline to all of us when we are on-the-go whether for entertainment, sports, or news programming.” Co-General Manager of MCV Erik Moreno added, “Rentrak gives us tremendous visibility into the key themes that will, over time, help us deliver a better service to our customers across the country.”

Dyle Service To Expand Channel Lineup in New York with Launch of WCBS-TV – Market Footprint Grows with Existing Pearl and LIN Media Partners and New Partner Sinclair – Adding 25 New Stations

LAS VEGAS, Apr 08, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) — –Reach expands to 57% of U.S. Households Dyle(TM) mobile TV, presented by Mobile Content Venture (MCV), announced today that it will expand its service to three new markets: Baltimore, Jacksonville and Salt Lake City, with expansion of its channel lineup in New York with the launch of WCBS-TV (CBS). Dyle mobile TV is a consumer mobile service that brings live broadcast television, including local and national news, sports and entertainment programming to mobile devices at home or on-the-go. In addition to new markets, Dyle mobile TV is adding one new station group – Sinclair, which previously announced stations and markets – bringing the total number of broadcasters participating in Dyle to 18 and total markets to 39.

Participating station groups will provide registered Dyle mobile TV users with live, broadcast programming on mobile devices in their respective television markets. The stations will be implementing standards-based conditional access from Dyle for authentication in a TV Everywhere environment.

“In today’s multi-screen environment, the notion that broadcasters should use a portion of their spectrum to transmit a live simulcast of their channel directly to viewers’ mobile devices makes more sense now than ever before,” said Paul McTear, CEO of Raycom Media, a member of the Pearl group. “Dyle satisfies our viewers’ growing demand for TV anywhere, anytime, without tapping into their data plans.”

Dyle mobile TV is operated by the Mobile Content Venture (MCV), a joint-venture of 12 major broadcast groups: Belo Corp., Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps Co., Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television Inc., Media General Inc., Meredith Corp., Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media, all of which are part of the standalone entity known as Pearl, LLC, as well as Fox, ION Television and NBC.

In addition to the 12 stations Sinclair announced last week, the following new stations also announce their plans to launch the Dyle mobile TV service in 2013:

– Baltimore – WBAL (NBC)

– Cleveland – WOIO (CBS)

– Dayton – WDTN (NBC)

– Greenville, SC – WSPA (CBS)

– Jacksonville – WTEV (CBS), WAWS (FOX), WTLV (NBC), and WJXT (Ind)

– Kansas City – KCTV (CBS)

– New York – WCBS (CBS)

– Portland – KOIN (CBS)

– St. Louis – KMOV (CBS)

– Tampa – WTSP (CBS)

“Expanding our station footprint in existing and new markets is critical to our success as we give more of the U.S. the ability to access live, local mobile TV on-the-go,” said Erik Moreno and Salil Dalvi, co-General Managers of MCV. “With these additions, we will be able to offer our services across 70 percent of the top 50 markets. This positions Dyle strongly for 2013 and beyond, as we look to make live broadcast programming an accessible, cost-efficient and regular component of daily life.”

With this announcement, Dyle mobile TV service will be available through 116 stations in 39 markets, reaching 57% percent of the U.S. population. These markets include: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Detroit, Tampa, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Orlando, Portland, Cincinnati, Greenville SC, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Knoxville, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, St. Louis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Seattle, Raleigh, Kansas City, Columbus, Tulsa, Austin, Dayton, Montgomery, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Jacksonville and Salt Lake City.

Industry’s First Dual-Tuner 8” Mobile TV Tablet Available Soon for Over-the-Air Digital and Mobile Broadcasts from Local TV Stations

LAS VEGAS & NEW YORK, Jan 04, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) — The worlds of TV viewing and handheld computing come together in the new RCA Mobile TV Tablet (Model DDA850R) introduced next week at the International CES as the electronics industry’s first dual-tuner mobile TV. This device will include a standard over-the-air DTV tuner, along with a mobile TV tuner that is compatible with Dyle(TM) mobile TV, a service that enables consumers to watch live, local TV while they are on the go. The RCA Mobile TV Tablet is the first tablet device to feature an integrated mobile TV tuner with Dyle mobile TV, offering viewers on-the-go access to 130 mobile TV stations throughout the country. With a stunning 8-inch screen, the RCA Mobile TV Tablet is both a portable TV set and a fully functional high-definition Android touchscreen tablet with Wi-Fi, dual cameras, and GPS functionality.

Photography of the new RCA TV Tablet is available on www.tinyurl.com/MobileTVTabletphotos .

“The addition of both stationary and mobile TV capability in a tablet receiver means that viewers will never be out of touch with the latest news, weather, sports, and favorite channels. Our new RCA Mobile TV Tablet includes a telescoping antenna to receive regular digital TV channels when you’re not moving, and mobile TV when life keeps you busy and on the move. Mobile TV from Dyle is ideal for keeping up with local broadcasts when on-the-go,” Chris Lee, Vice President of Marketing for Digital Stream. “Research consistently shows that consumers who try mobile TV not only watch television with greater frequency, but they also enjoy catching up on the latest information wherever they go. Reaction to our first generation of standalone Mobile DTV receivers has been very positive, and we look forward to more widespread and more advanced services made possible by the addition of this Mobile TV Tablet to the RCA product portfolio.”

“The rapid advancement of mobile TV technology is giving consumers unparalleled flexibility in how they watch TV and our integration with DST offers yet another way to view TV while they’re on-the-go,” said Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-general managers of Mobile Content Venture (MCV). “This is another great example of executing against our broader go-to-market strategy and commitment to delivering great, user-friendly technology to users everywhere.”

As the first tablet enabled with both an ATSC Mobile DTV tuner and Dyle mobile TV, the RCA Mobile TV Tablet is ideal for virtually any viewing environment – from the kitchen countertop to the back seat of a car. Dyle is now on-the-air in more than 35 markets, delivering popular network TV shows and local news. The RCA Mobile TV Tablet also receives mobile digital TV channels from broadcasters not affiliated with Dyle.

Other TV functions built into the device creating a one of a kind viewing experience include real-time signal strength display, on-screen program information display and digital closed captioning. Additionally, features like language settings, auto channel scan and a favorite channel setting enable the consumer to take the RCA Mobile TV Tablet and personalize the device to fit their needs.

Fully-Functional Tablet PC

With a bright 8-inch high-definition (1024×768) In-Plane Switching touchscreen, the RCA DMT580D is a fully functional Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n Android tablet featuring a Cortex A5 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of on-board flash memory. In addition to its unique dual-tuner design for reception of standard and mobile TV broadcasts (with built-in telescoping antenna), the RCA Mobile TV Tablet includes cameras on the front and rear of the tablet, twin speakers, integrated GPS, and USB, MicroUSB, MicroSD, and HDMI connectivity. Weighing only 1.4 pounds, the DMT580D also includes built-in Wi-Fi, a Google search browser, and compatibility with the Google Play app store. The RCA 8-inch Mobile TV Tablet has a battery life up to four hours in mobile TV mode, or up to 10 hours when web browsing.

With a suggested retail price of $299, the RCA Mobile TV Tablet will be available this coming spring.
